Health Suggestion Guide Pt 7 of 10: Dangers in the Home Pt. 1

For this article we will covering the first twenty of a total of forty household products that may prove hazardous to one's health. Originally this article was going to be covering environmental hazards (like outdoor dangers) but I've decided to go this route instead. If you like this type of content consider picking up my New book bible verses for born again believers volume 3 (set to be released in August). It contains hundreds of health suggestions quite similar to the one's that I've been mentioning in this series.

Before I continue I must saw that is not my goal or intention to instill fear in my audience, yes I believe the following product do produce a risk for people's health, however I also know that God is our protector and healer, although I do not think we should test God by willingly using dangerous products or ingesting poisonous foods, ultimately we should aim to do the best we can with what we have and trust God with the rest.

Without further ado let's begin.

Now I will be giving five examples for each area of the house that we are going to cover today. The kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, and living room will be the areas I will go over.

Let's begin in the kitchen. Paper plates- Yes they are disposable and convenient; however paper plates may contain dioxins, formaldehyde, and PFAS; they can cause cancer so stick with stainless steel or glass utensils, cups, plates etc. Dish pods typically have bleaching agents, fragrances, and phosphates which can impact the gut biome. Opt for homemade products or natural ones from the store like seventh generation. Speaking of Dish liquid, like I just stated get a more natural kind free of things like VOC'S and fragrances that can hurt your respiratory system. Plastic storage containers, kid's cups and plates, water bottle, ice trays, and plastic wrap should be switched out for a non-plastic variety in order to reduce the amount of hormone hurting microplastics . Teflon pans when heated to a very high heat can produce toxic fumes capable of killing bird. The disease is called polymer fume fever.   .

In the bathroom one may be tempted to use Air Freshener sprays; Don't, they contain formaldehyde and phthalates which can cause health problems including respiratory ones . Lotions have the potential to be very bad for your health depending on what the ingredient are. Avoid ones with fragrances, parabens, oxybenzone, and sulfates.

Toilet paper isn't safe either as some of them contain toxic fragrances and phthalates which are absorbed through the skin and can cause health issues. Avoid colored paper as it may cause skin irritation and bleached paper which may have carcinogenic dioxins.   Shower filter's (depending on the model) can reduce or eliminate certain unwanted contaminants in our tap water including heavy metals, VOC'S, chlorine, and sediments. Removal of these toxins should lead to improved hair and skin health and decrease the amount of chemicals absorbed through the skin during your shower. Shampoo may contain parabens, sulfates and/or phthalates which may cause hormonal issues, skin irritation, or worse.

Laundry detergent may include many toxic chemicals including but not limited to Chlorine bleach, dyes, fragrances, sodium lauryle sulfate, dioxane, phosphates, optical brighteners, and formaldehyde . Fabric softeners may cause allergies, skin irritation, and respiratory issues . Dryer sheets can also cause similar health problems to the last item mentioned such as skin irritation and respiratory problems. Polyester has a frequency of only 15, linen and wool has a frequency of 5000, cotton 70 and organic cotton 100. Choosing natural fabrics over synthetic one's can improve energy, reduce skin irritation, contribute to better temperature regulation and more.  Other inferior fabrics such as nylon, acrylic, and rayon should also NOT be worn. Instead try cashmere, linen, wool, and cotton .

Furniture Polish can cause skin and eye irritation and even avoiding direct contanct still does not negate the long term health risk from simply breathing in the fumes. Minerial spirits found in some polishes can cause caner and DNA damage; furthermore Cyclopentasiloxane may cause reproductive health issues. All purpose cleaners usually contain fragrance which is basically a catch all label where companies can include up to 100 ingredients and NOT disclose what they are. Light bulbs: you want incandescent bulbs as they are safer than CFL and LED because with the latter bulbs you have to worry about dirty electricity. CFL's also emit dangerous UV light and EMF radiation. Finally the last two items that I'd like to briefly mention on this post are Cell Phones and Television. The former can emit dangerous radiation and the latter should be used with Christian discernment. Shows that promote things that God hates will have a negative impact on your walk with the Lord.

In conclusion, I'd like to impress upon the reader to always be aware of the ingredients in the products that you are using and take the necessary precautions. The less chemicals the better and always use gloves, eye protection, and other PPE when the situation call for it.
