In this post we are going to go over the origins as well as a couple beliefs of the adherents to the religion known as Rastafari; as with my other post on various religions I have included bible verses which refute some of their ideals.
The religion known as Rastafari was invented in the 1920's by a man named Marcus Garvey, who lived in Jamaica. Rastafarianism claims about a million adherents. Their sacred book that they refer to is called the holy piby, which was made in 1924. It is also known as "the black man's bible". We know that since this book teaches a Gospel that differs from the bible the creator of such is accursed (Gal 1:9).
Rastafarians believe that Jesus was black, this is not the Jesus we learn about in scripture as Jesus was neither black nor white but Jewish (Mat 1:1). The late emperor of Ethiopia Ras Tafari also known as Haile Selassie is worshiped as divine and believed to be still alive, their is an example in the bible where a ruler was worshiped as God and was killed for it (Act 12:22 -23).
They do not believe in an afterlife, instead they teach that Africa (Ethiopia) is heaven on earth, which contradicts the bible because scripture teaches a Judgment after death (Heb 9:27). True Rasta's are supposedly immortal both Physically and Spiritually. They are also known to ritually use Marijuana, this is a problem for those who profess belief in Christ because the bible repeatedly instructs us to be sober (1Th 5:6 -8, Tit 2:2-6, 1 Pet 5:8).
In conclusion Rastafarianism is just one of many religions the devil has created to blind men's eyes from the truth and to spread confusion, which we know God is not the author of (1 Cor 14:33).
