For today's short post, I will be addressing the UK's Good as New Translation. Although I won't be covering alot of verses, the ones I do address will be significant to persuade any veteran Christian not to purchase this bogus excuse for a bible.
John Henson, ed., Good As New: A Radical Retelling of the Scriptures. New Alresford, Hampshire (U.K.): O Books (Imprint of John Hunt Publishing), 2004. ISBN: 1903816734.
Mat 3:4 And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.
Matt 3:4 "...carob nuts and tree sap." (GAN)
That's not what the manuscripts said that he ate!
Mat 3:9 And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
Matt 3:9 "...out of people you've no more regard for than these stones!"(GAN)
I thought that John was talking about the literal stones around him, didn't you?
Mat 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
Matt 3:11 "...and that will be like fire."(GAN)
Given the contexts Matt "3:12" I think that John is comparing the saved and the lost. Jesus baptizes the saved with the Holy Spirit and the damned with fire, aka hell and the lake of fire.
Mat 3:16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
Matt 3:16 "...She was like a pigeon..."(GAN)
The Holy Spirit isn't female see John 16:13.
Mat 4:3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
Matt 4:3 "The thought came to him..."(GAN)

Is this translation trying to pretend that the devil doesn't exist? It switches the devil with Jesus' thoughts!!!
Mat 4:5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
Matt 4:5 "...mind's eye..."(GAN)
Sounds like New Age Occult / Hinduism terminology to me.
1. God Promises to Preserve His word, therefore there is a word of God out there somewhere.
The creators of the newer versions are forced to change God's word by a certain % in order to get a copyright. And while some would like to think there intentions in making newer versions were pure the bible says the love of money is the root of all evil.
To summarize The KJV comes from the Textus Receptus, over 95% of the Manuscripts we have support this reading. less than 5% Come from the Alexandrian texts which as i will show in upcoming post differs from the Majority text. read my post on KJV bible history to find details on the origin of the newer bibles, The Catholic Jesuits evil plans to change the word of God, and who was Wescott and Hort (the two men who were responsible for the greek text which underlay the newer translations). In conclusion yes i believe in and trust the bible completely, however not every bible version out there are the pure undefiled words of God.
Matt 4:5 "...mind's eye..."(GAN)

Mat 5:27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
Matt 5:27 "Don't take away someone else's partner"(GAN)
This change seems to condone unmarried people (both heterosexual and homosexual) to "shack up".
This change seems to condone unmarried people (both heterosexual and homosexual) to "shack up".
Mat 26:70 But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest.
Matt 26:69-70 "... I don't know what the hell your talking about!"(GAN)
Peter using Profanity.
This definitely is an attempt to make the bible seem less condemning of homosexuality.
Getting a partner isn't necessarily the same as getting hitched.
Another issue that one should be concerned about in this translation is that it cuts out 8 entire New testament books (1 and 2 Timothy, Titus, 2 Peter, 2nd and 3rd John,
Jude, and Revelation) and adds the Gospel of Thomas.

I don't consider myself to be a King James "onlyist" because I believe the copies of Hebrew old testament and Greek new testament to also be the inspired word of God, so if you know Hebrew or Greek you still have the word of God. I also believe it is quite possible that they have already translated the bible into many other languages as well. my contention with this issue is if you have read my post on KJV bible history and my Post on the word of God. You would then understand why I take the stance that the King James is the Preserved word of God for the english speaking people.
The bible truths are quite clear
Matt 26:69-70 "... I don't know what the hell your talking about!"(GAN)
Peter using Profanity.
Rom 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
Rom 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
Romans 1:26-27 "God let them go on to pursue their selfish desires. Women use their charms to further their own ends. Men, instead of being friends, ruthlessly exploit one another."(GAN)This definitely is an attempt to make the bible seem less condemning of homosexuality.
1Co 7:8 I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I.
1Co 7:9 But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.
1 Corinthians 7:8-9 "If you know you have strong needs, get yourself a partner. Better than being frustrated"(GAN)Getting a partner isn't necessarily the same as getting hitched.

(Update: While I believe the KJV is the most reliable translation for the English language, I no longer am 100% sure that the kjv is completely error free. However we know that God's word is not lost because we can know what it says by comparing the thousands of existing manuscripts.
2. God's word is clear that there are some who have perverted or corrupted his word.
3. God warns us not to change his word in Deuteronomy, Proverbs, and Revelation.
