The Field of Archaeology is an Evolutionists worst nightmare. Why do I say that you ask? Consider the wealth of Archaeological finds that lend so much support to the events that occurred in the bible. Here are twenty of such cases. (update: recently I came across a website that questions the validity of Ron Wyatt's discoveries, and details why they may not be legitimate, therefore I have highlighted the piece of evidence in red and supplied the additional link so the reader can draw their own conclusions).
1. The Cyrus Cylinder - discovered in 1859 shows his overthrow of Babylon and subsequent deliverance of the Jews.
2. The Lachish Letters - discovered in 1932-38 describes the attack of Nebuchadnezzar on Jerusalem in 586 bc.
3. the Tel Dan Stele - (900-850 b.c.) a stele is an inscribed upright stone used as a monument of an important event or achievement. This particulate stele has carved on it's face "house of David".
4. Caiaphas' Ossuary - an Ossuary is a box designed to hold the bones of the dead after decomposition, they have found the Ossuary of the high priest Caiaphas.
5. The Hittite peoples - In 1906 excavations at Boghazkoy, Turkey uncovered thousands of Hittite documents revealing a wealth of Information on the Hittite's History and Culture.
6. The Dead Sea Scrolls- Discovered sometime between 1946 - 47, they date back approx 2000 years and books of the bible are represented in copies or commentaries including Isaiah 53.
7. The Pontius Pilate Inscription - founded by Antonio Frova in 1961.
8. Chariot wheels in Red Sea - discovered by Ron Wyatt off the coast of Neweiba Beach. solid evidence that Israel crossed the Red sea while being pursued by Pharaohs army.
9. King Tiglath Pileser 3rd of Assyria - 2 inscriptions of his confirm the biblical accounts of his invasion of Judah, and mentions 5 Hebrew kings ( Uzziah, Ahaz, Menahem, Pekah, and Hoshea).
10. A number of structures mentioned in the bible have also been found including the palace at Jericho where Eglon was killed, the east gate of Shechem, the Temple of Baal in shechem, the pools of Gibeon and Heshbon, the royal palace of Samaria where the kings of Israel resided. the water tunnel beneath Jerusalem dug by king Hezekiah during the Assyrian siege, Royal palace in Babylon where Belshazzar held the feast, the palace of Shushan where Esther was queen, the royal gate where Mordecai sat, the house of Peter at Capernaum, Jacob's well, the pools of Bethesda and Siloam, the theater of Ephesus where the riot of silversmiths occurred, Herods palace at Caesarea where Paul was kept under guard.
11. Balaam - an ancient text found at Deir Alla Mentions "Balaam the son of Beor" 3 times in the first 4 lines. It's written in Aramaic. the text begins with the title Warnings from the Book of Balaam the son of Beor. He was a seer of the gods". The events of Numbers 22-24 took place in the same general area the text was found.
12. The Walls of Jericho - An excavation done by British Archeologist Kathleen Kenyon in 1950's uncovered details that Jericho was indeed burned by fire and the Northern wall and houses that were against it (apparantly Rahab's house) was indeed still standing while the rest of the walls were flattened.
13. Two Philistine temples - have been discovered by Archeologist, One in Tel Qasile and another in Tel Miqne. They share a unique design, the roof is supported by two central pillars spaced about six ft apart. The pillars were made of wood and rested on stone support bases. A strong man could dislodge the wood pillars from the stone base and cause the roof to collapse.
14. The Ebla Tablets - These documents were written on clay tablets around 2300 b.c. Discovered in the 1970's in Northern Syria, they show that personal and place names in the patriarch accounts are accurate. It contains the name Canaan, a name critics claimed wasn't used at that time and thus was used incorrectly in the early chapters of the bible.
15. Mernetaph Stela - discovered in Egypt in 1896, this tablet shows that Israel was a significant entity around 1300 b.c.
16. Hittite Legal Documents - from 1400 B.C. found in Nuzi (Northeastern Iraq), Confirms many details of Genesis and Deuteronomy such as siring of legitimate children through handmaidens, oral deathbed will as binding, the power to sell one's birthright for realativly trivial property ( Jacob/Esau), need for family idols to secure inheritance (Rachel/Laban), form of the covenant in Deuteronomy matches form of suzerainty treaties between Hittite emporers and vassal kings.
17. James Ossuary- It says he's the son of Joseph and the brother of Jesus, seldom is the brother mentioned unless that brother was noteworthy.
18. Bibles Mention of Pagan idols - such as Dagon and Diana. Both were mentioned in the video of the following site
19. The Elephantine Papyri - which dates back to the 5th centurty B.C. mentions the names of 3 persons in the book of Nehemiah Darius the second, Sanballat the Horanite, and Johanan the high priest.
20. The Moabite stone - written by Mesha king of Moab, and discovered by F.A. Klein in 1868. It mentions Omri king of Israel, his son Ahab, the tribe of Gad and Yahweh.
