A Bible Study on Family

Hello again viewers, for today's piece we will be taking a gander at some Fam-related verses. This study is by no means exhaustive; still It is my hope that some will find it helpful.

We see near the beginning of scripture that marriage is defined as one man and one woman in Gen 2:24.

In fact we can see the contention of when this rule isn't followed by looking at Gen 30, this passage show the trouble of polygamy.

In Exodus 21:17 we see capital punishment for cursing parents.

From Leviticus 18:6 onward, we see the establishment of the anti-incest laws.

Honoring your father and mother is stated in Deut 5:16 as well as in many other places in scripture.

Job loses his children in Job 1:17-18.

Psalm 127:3-5 is all but lost in the modern society, many treat kids as a burden instead of blessing.

Prov 28:24 shows us that children are not entitled to their parents goods.

We find instructions about divorce in Matthew 5:31-32

Mark 7:10-13 reiterates the point of honoring parents and not cursing them; among other points.

1 Cor 7:39 shows us the permanency of marriage, until death do you part.

Ephesians 5:22-33 are specific instructions for husbands and wives.

Col 3:21-22 tells us children ought to obey parents and fathers are not to provoke children to anger.

1 Tim 3:1-5 shows us that bishops must be husband of one wife and rule their houses well, having children in subject with all gravity.

We see that we are to treat other believers like family in 1 Tim 5:1-2.

1 Tim 5:4 shows that children or nephews ought to care for their widows; and 5:8 shows us that if you don't look after your own your worse than unbeliever.

1 Pet 3:1-7 tells wives to submit to their husbands and for husbands to dwell with their wives according to knowledge and give them honor.

This was just a small sample of verses on the subject of family, I encourage my readers to go ahead and add to this in the comments.
