My Teaching on Hell and the Lake of Fire

What is hell? Where is it located? Do only really bad people go there when they die? Today I'm going to answer these questions and more on my post about hell.

So where exactly is hell located, the bible describes hell as being in the lower parts of the earth. ( Deut 32:22, Psa 63:9, Pro 15:24, Isa 14:9-10, Amo 9:2). It is also know as a place of torment, where there is pain, sorrow, weeping and fire! (2 Sam 22:6, Psa 116:3, Mat 8:12, Mat 18:34-35, Mar 9:43-48, Luk 16:23-24).

This place sure sounds awful but who exactly will end up there? The wicked and those who forget God will go there (Psa 9:17), Strange women (harlot) and those who go to her house (Pro 5:3-5, Prov 7:27, Pro 9:13-18), Those that call their brother a fool (Mat 5:22), and those that work iniquity (Mat 7:19-23). You will end up in hell if you spend your life living for yourself (Mar 8:34-37). Those that bear thorns and briers (Heb 6:8). The unrepentant will not be saved (Eze 3:20, Heb 10:27:28). Ultimately all kinds of people will end up in the Lake of Fire including the fearful, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, whoremongers sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, as well as those that are not written in the book of life ( Rev 20:15, Rev 21:8).

So Hell is for all people that have sinned (with the exception of children and others that don't know better). Although the everlasting fire was never intended for man but for the devil and his Ilk (Mat 25:41), the bible is clear that most people shall end up there (Pro 27:20, Isa 5:14, Mat 7:13) for all have sinned (Rom 3:23).

Some cults teach that hell is only a temporary and that you either burn up and cease to exist or you are reincarnated after spending some time there. This is not what the bible teaches, the fire they are tormented with is said to be everlasting/unquenchable (Isa 66:24, Mat 3:12, Jud 1:7). The contempt, destruction and punishment is said to be everlasting (Dan 12:2, Mat 25:46, 2 Th 1:9). They are said to not have rest (Rev 14:9-11), and the devil likewise shall be tormented forever (Rev 20:10).

In conclusion Hell and ultimately the lake of fire is a place of everlasting conscious torment, that everyone who knowingly has committed even one sin will be cast into. The only way to escape is to turn from your sin and trust in Jesus alone for you salvation.
