Bible verses on Avoiding People

In today's post I will be writing about the necessity for Christians to stay away or not "hang out' with certain groups of people.

When you first become a Christian you may have to break ties with people you consider your friends simply because they are not Christians. we are instructed in proverbs that a companion of fools
will be destroyed, and to go from their presence when we perceive that they don't have the lips of knowledge (Pro 13:20, Pro 14:7). Furthermore the New Testament also says that we shouldn't be unequally yoked with unbelievers and that if we are friends with the world that makes us an enemy of God (2 Cor 6:14, Jam 4:4).

The bible also foretells of men arising who shall speak perverse things in order to draw away disciples after themselves (Act 20:30). We are instructed to reject heretics after 2 warnings ( Tit 3:10), and not to receive into our house or bid God speed to those who abide not in the doctrine of Christ (2 Joh 1:10). We are also told to withdraw from those who don't consent to the words of Jesus and who suppose gain in godliness (1 Ti 6:3-5).

It's not Just unbelievers and Heretics we got to watch out for, we also need to withdraw from fellow brethren if we see them committing fornication, idolatry, drunkenness, etc (1 Cor 5:11) or those that walk disorderly (2 Thes 3:6, 2 Thes 3:14-15).

We are also instructed to turn away from those that have a form of godliness but deny the power thereof (2 Tim 3:1-5). As Christians it is vitally important to study our bibles so we can mark and avoid those that cause divisions and offences contrary to it (Rom 16:17-18). Furthermore we are told to cast out a scorner in order to get rid of strife and contention (Pro 22:10), not to make a friendship with angry people lest we learn their ways (Pro 22:24-25), and not to annoy our neighbors with our constant presence (Pro 25:17).

In conclusion the bible list several examples of instances and situations where we should stay away from people. this doesn't' mean we shouldn't be kind and help those people if they come to you in need, however we must use our discernment when deciding which people we want to be friends with.
