Bible Contradictions 4

301. (695) hate / love those who hate God.
Psa 139:21, Luk 6:35
Hate is not the opposite of Love as many would think. Hatred could mean that you prefer another over them see (Rom 9:13, Gen 29:31, Luk 14:26) Mat 10:37 so therefore you can both love and hate someone. Selfishness is the opposite of love.

302. (703) The penalty for murder may / may not be reduced.
Exo 21:29 -30, Num 35:31
Those verses in Exodus are an exception to the rule since it was the owner's animal that killed a person.

Num 1:51, Deut 7:2, (Exo 23:9, Jer 22:3, Zec 7:10)
Numbers was for a stranger who violated a certain rule. whilst Deut was referring to the 7 Nations God hath appointed to destruction.

305. (708) Resident Strangers are / are not to follow God's laws.
Exo 12:49, Lev 18:26, Deut 14:21
There is no contradiction here Strangers were to follow God's laws and that verse in Deut was God's law. Israel couldn't eat that which dieth of itself because they were a holy people.

306. (713) You should / need not observe the Sabbath.
Exo 20:8, Isa 56:2, Mar 2:27 -28, Rom 14:5, Col 2:16
It is my Personal belief that you don't have to keep the Sabbath as a New Testament believer to be saved, but is still a good thing to do. Read Acts 15.

307. (720) The penalty for theft from a neighbor is double the loss / restitution.

311. (731) Circumcision was required / ignored for forty years.
Gen 17:14, Josh 5:5 -7
Both, not a contradiction.

312. (733) God does / does not approve of slavery.
Gen 17:13, Col 3:22, Mat 23:10, Isa 58:6
I don't think the God of the bible supports the kind of slavery which was found in the 17th America's where they kidnapped Africans and forced them to work on plantations for little food and beat them. The people in the bible back then didn't have the welfare programs we have today, so instead of starving to death they voluntarily became slaves for food and shelter. According to the OT, anyone caught selling another person into slavery was to be executed. Although there are rules in the bible about slavery those rules exists to protect the slave. Injuring or killing slaves was punishable up to Death, they were not to work on the Sabbath, don't slander a slave, or return an escaped slave, fellow Hebrews were hired workers not slaves and they would be released the 7th year or on Jubilee, In fact a slave owner was encouraged to pamper his slave. Slaves were not to be threatened but to be treated with Justice and fairness.
The new Testament says we are all equal in God's eyes.

Judg 11:30 -39, Eze:20:25- 26, 2 Ki 21:6

The Levites were given cities within the other tribes territories but they weren't given the same type of land inheritance as the others.
https://www.gotquestions.org/God-inheritance-Levites.html
Even today you see that Farming is done in the Country not the city.

327. (761) A Levit'es service should begin at age 20 / 25 / 30.
1Chro 23:24, 2Chro 31:17, Num 8:24, 4:3, 1Chro 23:3
There is a distinction made in the text between the type of service which is rendered in each case. The difference is that the younger men of Num 8 probably were apprentices who did the manual labor while in training.
David shortened it down to 20 years probably because the duty of transporting the tabernacle from place to place in the wilderness required a more mature and stronger person. see 1Chro 23:25-27

328. (762) The poles of the ark may never / sometimes be withdrawn.
Exo 25:14 -15, Num 4:5-6

http://defendinginerrancy.com/bible-solutions/Numbers_4.6.php

329. (763) A woman's chastity is tested by polluted water / tokens.

331. (768) It is / is not wrong for a Jewish woman to marry outside her tribe.
Num 36:8, Lev 22:12
That verse in Leviticus doesn't say it is not wrong for her to marry a stranger.

332. (769) God will / will not destroy those who intermarry.
Deut 7:3 -4, Gen 46:20, Num 12:1, 1Ki 11:1-2
Genesis was before the Law so it doesn't count. In 1Ki this is part of the reason Solomon's kingdom was divided and given to another.

333. (770) A man should / should not marry his brother's widow.
Deut 25:5 -6, Lev 20:21
There's a big difference between a wife and a widow.

Deut 25:5 -6, Ruth 4:5 -17, Ruth 4:21, Mat 1:5, Luk 3:32
I list 2 Sites to help with this one but some of the reason they give as to why Mat and Luk list Boaz as Obed dad is because he was his biologically and both Boaz and Mahlon were his legal father because Boaz had land before he married Ruth so he inherited Both there lands, the story was making a theological point not a legal one, a similar thing is Judah and Tamar though not exact.
http://christianity.stackexchange.com/questions/36778/why-is-ruths-child-in-the-line-of-boaz-and-not-mahlon

http://doulogos.blogspot.com/2009/03/obed-son-of-boaz-or-son-of-elimelech.html

335. (776) Adulterers should / should not be executed.
Lev 20:10, Joh 8:7
I think it was either because they didn't bring the guy accused of adultery too see Leviticus verse u mentioned, or because Jesus changed the Law.

336. (777) Sex during menstruation is unclean / forbidden / cause to be shunned.
Lev 15:24, 18:19, 20:18
All of the above.

337. (782) Children are / are not punished for the sins of their fathers.
Isa 14:21, Josh 7:20 -26, Deu 24:16
Read Isa 14:22 this was in Reference to Babylon not Israel and It was the Lord bringing Judgment to them. In Joshua it was an exception and they were to destroy all that Achan had, perhaps they were guilty by association could he really hide those things in his tent and they not know. Deut 13.

338. (783) Children are culpable / innocent.
2Ki 2:23 -24, Mar 10:13-16
Notice how Jesus says little children that implies they are younger than just regular children.

339. (784) Children should be treated harshly / tenderly.
Deu 21:18 -21, Psa 137:9, Eph 6:4, Col 3:21
the son mentioned in Deut could hardly be considered a child because the parents testify he was a drunkard. In Psa 137 take it in context, I am assuming it's referring to during war. Repaying Babylon for what they have done to Jerusalem.

340. (788) A bastard's descendants shall not / did enter into the congregation of the Lord.
Deu 23:2, Gen 38:15 -18, 24,29, Mat 1:3
According to most dictionaries a bastard is inaccurately portrayed as the offspring of incest, unmarried parents or an Israelite who marries a non Israelite. Only one of those is Correct (Incest). What is a bastard "mamzer"  according to the bible The following site said that the legal definition of a mamzer is the product of Incest or Adultery.
http://fathersmanifesto.net/mamzers.htm

Even if A bastard was the offspring of an Isralite and a heathen there is no indication that Tamar was one in the scripture and Ruth was absorbed into the Jewish nation because of the principle of patrilineal descent and because she trusted God. According to...

341. (793) It is / is not wrong to swear an oath.
Jam 5:12, Num 30:2
That's a difference between old and new testements not a contradiction.

It is ok to call biological fathers father, thats who john was addressing.

343. (796) It is / is not wrong to observe the times.
Deut 18:10, Gal 4:9-11, Rom 14:6
Rom 14:6 isn't talking about observing times, observing times is using Astrology or stargazing, it's another form of divination. Looking to the stars for guidance.
http://www.fillthevoid.org/Children/TheBattle/ForbiddenPractices/WhatisaForbiddenPractice.html

344. (797) It is / is not wrong to call someone a fool.
Mat 5:22, 23:1,17,19,Luke 11:40,12:20, 1Cor 15:35 -36
Jesus was referring to a brother aka fellow believer don't call him a fool, think about it that is bearing false witness Psa 14:1.

345. (801) You should / should not Judge.
Lev 19:15, Joh 7:24, 1Cor 2:15, Mat 7:1, Jam 4:12, Rom 2:1, 1Cor 4:5
Read the context of Mat 7 it refers to hypocritical Judgment and so does Rom.

346. (802) Anger is / is not wrong.
(Job 5:2, Pro 22:24, ecc 7:9, Mat 5:22, Jam 1:19 -20) Eph 4:26
Anger is different from wrath. Anger is being upset at your child for not cleaning his room, whilst wrath is pummeling him half to death for not cleaning it. Anger without Justification is wrong as well.

347. (803) Israelites should / should not take captives.
Deut 20:11 -15, 20:16-18
Read the context... it depends who they are fighting.

348. (805) Ammonites cannot enter God's congregation for 10 Generatons / ever.

forever could also mean just for a span of time.

Mat 18:15, 1Tim 5:19 -20
Both depending on the situation read Mat 18:16-17

350. (810) You should / should not rejoice when your enemies fall.
Psa 58:10, Pro 24:17

351. (811) Bear one another's / your own burdens.
Gal 6:2, 6:5
you are to do both.

352. (813) People should be baptized in the name of the Trinity / Jesus only.
Mat 28:19, Act 2:38, 8:16, 10:48
Either one's fine, although maybe baptizing in Jesus name means to baptize the way Christs told us to in Matthew, I'm not going to be dogmatic about it.

353. (814) you should forgive people 3 /490 / 7 times.
Mat 18:15 -17, 18:21 -22, Luk 17:3
The point here was that you should forgive someone as many times as they repent you don't need to ascribe a certain number to it. Mat 18:15 -17 was talking about someone who would not hear you aka wouldn't repent so that's a different circumstance, in that case warn him 3 times.

354. (817) Christians should / should not pray in public.
1Tim 2:8, Mat 6:5 -6
Pray anywhere you want but don't pray to be seen of men.

355. (818) It is / is not wrong for a Christioan to marry an unbeliever.
2Cor 6:14,17, 7:12
Read the context and you'll see it's talking about not worshiping with unbelievers. That being said i don't think it's a good idea to marry an unbeliever but if you already did don't put her away because he / she is one.

356. (822) Jesus said to beware the leaven of the Parisees only / & Sadducees / & Herod.
Luke 12:1, Mat 16:6,11, Mar 8:15
You are putting words in Jesus' mouth. He didn't say beware of the Leaven of the Pharasees only. Just because one Gospel doesn't mention the Leaven of the other two it doesn't make it a contradiction.

357. (823) Prophecy is / is not sure.
Deu 18:21 -22, 2 Pet 1:19, 1Cor 13:8, Jon 3:4-10
There are such a thing as False prophets who prophesy lies in God's name Jere 14:14, you wouldn't expect those to be sure. But if it was a true prophet then it would be sure because God doesn't lie.

358. (824) some / no prophecy was privately interpreted.
Mat 24:3 -6, 2Pet 1:20
These two scriptures are completely unrelated. 2 Peter wasn't saying you can't discuss prophecy in a private setting. He was saying that you can't just Interpret scripture the way you want, that is what it means.

359. (826) The prophets were / were not killed by the Jews.
Act 7:52, 7:37, Deu 34:4, Act 2:30, 1Ki 2:1
Some they killed, some they didn't.

360. - 361. (827 -28) God will / will not curse the earth. God will / will not destroy man because of his wickedness.
Gen 6:5-7, 8:21, Mal 4:6
Earth doesn't always mean the ground see Gen 11:1. In 8:21 God's saying he wouldn't curse the ground anymore for man's sake, not the earth. So it is reasonable to assume Mal 4:6 is referring to the people not the ground. About the other Question you have God saying he will / won't destroy man (Gen 6:7, 8:21). God destroyed man by a flood then afterward God Promised not to destroy every thing living as he has done. see Gen 9:13 -17.

362. (829) Abraham's descendants will / did not return in the 4th generation.
Gen 15:13, 21:3, 25:26, 29:34, 46:11, Exo 6:8, 1Chro 23:13
Your starting with Abraham's son when you should start with Jacob's son since he was the one who moved to Egypt.

363. (830) There will be many / few Israelites.
Gen 26:4, Deu 4:27
Both.

364. (831) The unclean will not / did enter Jerusalem.
Isa 52:1
Could that verse be referring to NEW Jerusalem. Rev 21:2

365. (832) The poor will / will not always be found in Israel.
Deut 15:11, 15:4
Read context. the promise of verse 4 is conditioned upon the people carefully obeying the voice of the Lord one of which was to help the poor see 15:8. If the people obeyed God in this the Lord would have prospered the land so that there would have been an abundant supply to enable some to care for the needs of others.
http://defendinginerrancy.com/bible-solutions/Deuteronomy_15.4.php

http://defendinginerrancy.com/bible-solutions/Genesis_49.10b.php

368. (837) David's throne will endure forever / was cast down.
Psa 89:35 -37, 89:44
I am Guessing the one verse means Physical while the other Spiritual.

369. (840) Ephraim will / will not return to Egypt.
Hos 9:3, 11:3 -5
This Site seems to suggest that 8:13 / 9:3 wasn't referring to the actual land of Egypt but that in their hears they were always returning to Egypt. Their hearts were turning away from God and toward Egypt's Pagan influence. In Hos 11:5 God is reiterating his Promise of Deut 17:16.
http://defendinginerrancy.com/bible-solutions/Hosea_8.13.php

370. (841) All / not all Jews were to die in Egypt.

Zech 12:9, Isa 60:11 -12
I'm not seeing where you are getting a contradiction here.

381. (864) Lazarus is not to / did die.

382. (866) Jesus would ascend that day / ascended after three days.

Mat 12:38 -40, 27:1 -2, 35, 57, 62, 64, 28:1, 6
simply put there are two ways to explain this:
1. Jesus wasn't crucified on friday but earlier.
2. If Jesus was Crucified on friday then you can take in account the way they counted day and night is different than the way we do. (Est 4:16, 5:1)

390. (878) The world will end before Israel / after all nations hear God's word.
Mat 10:23, 24:14, Mar 13:10
One way to Interpret it is to take the promise literally and Immediately and that Jesus was referring to when he would rejoin them after their mission, and was not referring to the second coming.

391. (879) All grass is / is not to be burned up at the end of the world.
Rev 8:7, 9:3 -4
8:7 was referring to green grass, not all grass is green.

392. (882) In the last days, they shall beat swords into plowshares / plowshares into swords.
Isa 2:4, Joe 3:10
Both, though i think these verses are referring to two different points in time in the last days.

393. (883) The Son of man will come humbly / in glory.
Zech 9:9, Dan 7:13 -14
1st time humbly, Mat 21:5.  2nd time in Glory, Rev 19:11 -16.

394. (885) Reward and punishment will come in this / the next world.
Pro 11:31, 2Cor 5:10
Both

395. (886) Believers will / will not be Judged.
2 Cor 5:10, Joh 5:24
I think the condemnation John was referring to was the second death referred to in Revelation 20. I personally believe there are 2 Judgments in which the saved are raised first, this is the Judgment seat of Christ which i think 1 Cor 3:10 -15 is referring to. but the Lost will be raised 1000 years after and experience the great white throne Judgment, the end result of that is being thrown in the lake of fire.

396. (888) Jesus will / will not Judge people.
Joh 5:22, Act 10:42, 2Cor 5:10, Luk 12:14, Joh 8:15
The Judgment that Jesus does not do is the earthly, casuistic, superifical kind that the Pharasess do. the Judgment that Jesus is entrusted with is done at the end of human history.

397. (891) Sinners will suffer / lose their consciousness forever.
Mat 13:49, Eze 18:20, 2The 1:9
The Lost will experience the second death which is eternal torment in the Lake of Fire.

398. (893) All / Not all will be saved.
Luk 3:6, Joh 12:32, Rom 5:18, Luk 13:23 -24, Joh 3:3, Rom 14:23, 1Co 6:9
All men have the opportunity to be Saved but only some will choose it.

399. (894) Jews will / will not be saved.
Isa 54:9 -10, Rom 11:26, Mat 8:12, 21:43 -45, Rom 9:27
Rom 9:1-8, 2:28-29

400. (895)
He who does not believe will / will not be damned.
Mar 16:16, Joh 20:24 -25
It's simple Thomas repented. You must believe in the Son John 3:36
