Good news Bible Unmasked!

Well, Hello again my viewers for today's article I'm going to cite some verses from the Good news bible and see if you can spot the problems that i am seeing with it. The good news translation new testament was first published in 1966 the old testament in 76. As the translation type it is of the Dynamic Equivalence variety. So this should be fun.

Scripture quotations marked (GNT) are from the Good News Translation in Today’s English Version- Second Edition Copyright © 1992 by American Bible Society. Used by Permission.

Gen 13:18  Then Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the LORD.
Genesis 13:18, Gen 18:1 "...sacred trees..." (GNT)
(Makes me think of the Abomination of Christmas).

Gen 26:8  And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was sporting with Rebekah his wife.
Gen 26:8 "...making love."  (GNT)
(were they doing it right out in the open?)

Lev 15:3  And this shall be his uncleanness in his issue: whether his flesh run with his issue, or his flesh be stopped from his issue, it is his uncleanness.
Leviticus 15:3 "...discharge from his penis..."(GNT)
(Not very kid friendly)

Lev 20:10  And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.
Lev 20:10 "...wife of an Israelite..."(GNT)
(Because i guess it's only Adultery if it's the wife of an Israelite, won't Adulterers nowadays be glad to here that.)

Lev 19:17  Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him.
Lev 19:17 "...settle your differences...so that you will not commit a sin because of them."(GNT)
(different meaning than not suffer sin upon them, It shows that you hate somebody if you don't warn them of their sin)

Num 11:15  And if thou deal thus with me, kill me, I pray thee, out of hand, if I have found favour in thy sight; and let me not see my wretchedness.
Numbers 11:15 "...I won't have to endure your cruelty any longer.""(GNT)
(So you expect me to believe that Moses called God cruel, Moses was the meekest man alive at the time Num 12:3)

Jdg 3:22  And the haft also went in after the blade; and the fat closed upon the blade, so that he could not draw the dagger out of his belly; and the dirt came out.
Judges 3:22 "...and it struck out behind, between his legs"(GNT)
So out his B***hole then? KJV doesn't say anything like this.

Pro 30:31  A greyhound; an he goat also; and a king, against whom there is no rising up.
Pro 30:31 "...strutting roosters..."(GNT)

Ecc 8:3  Be not hasty to go out of his sight: stand not in an evil thing; for he doeth whatsoever pleaseth him.
Ecclesiastes 8:3 "...so depart from his presence.."(GNT)
Kinda the opposite meaning?

Son 7:1  How beautiful are thy feet with shoes, O prince's daughter! the joints of thy thighs are like jewels, the work of the hands of a cunning workman.
Son 7:2  Thy navel is like a round goblet, which wanteth not liquor: thy belly is like an heap of wheat set about with lilies.
Song of Solomon 7:1,2 "...thighs...A bowl is there...never runs out of spiced wine..."(GNT)
Seems pretty pornographic to me.

Isa 7:14  Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
Isaiah 7:14 virgin changed to "young woman"(GNT)
(not much of a sign, young women get pregnant everyday).

Jer 21:5  And I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger, and in fury, and in great wrath.
Jeremiah 21:5 "...all my might..."(GNT)
(If God used all his might it would destroy the entire universe)

Eze 10:14  And every one had four faces: the first face was the face of a cherub, and the second face was the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.
Ezekiel 10:14 "...bull..."(GNT)
lose cherub's face.

Eze 16:34  And the contrary is in thee from other women in thy whoredoms, whereas none followeth thee to commit whoredoms: and in that thou givest a reward, and no reward is given unto thee, therefore thou art contrary.
Eze 16:34 "...special kind of prostitute..." (GNT)
Makes it sound like a good thing.

Dan 11:37  Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.
Daniel 11:37 changed God to "god"(GNT)
You lose the meaning that his fathers had the true God.

Hos 3:1  Then said the LORD unto me, Go yet, love a woman beloved of her friend, yet an adulteress, according to the love of the LORD toward the children of Israel, who look to other gods, and love flagons of wine.
Hosea 3:1 "...raisins..."(GNT)

Hos 4:11  Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart.
Hos 4:11 removed "whoredom"

Hos 4:13  They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and elms, because the shadow thereof is good: therefore your daughters shall commit whoredom, and your spouses shall commit adultery.
Hos 4:13 "...daughters-in-law..."(GNT)
A spouse is not the same as a daughter in law.

Hos 8:14  For Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and buildeth temples; and Judah hath multiplied fenced cities: but I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour the palaces thereof.
Hos 8:14 "...palaces..."(GNT)
(how many church buildings today are referred to as temples)

Hos 9:6  For, lo, they are gone because of destruction: Egypt shall gather them up, Memphis shall bury them: the pleasant places for their silver, nettles shall possess them: thorns shall be in their tabernacles.
Hos 9:6 removes they are gone

Hos 11:12  Ephraim compasseth me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit: but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints.
Hos 11:12 "...Judah...rebelling..."(GNT)
Opposite meaning.

Nah 1:5  The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein.
Nahum 1:5 "...shakes...tremble." (GNT)

Nah 3:18  Thy shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria: thy nobles shall dwell in the dust: thy people is scattered upon the mountains, and no man gathereth them.
Nah 3:18 "...asleep forever..."(GNT)
Contradicts Joh 5:29, Act 24:15, etc.

Hab 3:9  Thy bow was made quite naked, according to the oaths of the tribes, even thy word. Selah. Thou didst cleave the earth with rivers.
Habakkuk 3:9 "...lightning..."(GNT)
uh...rivers is what it should be?

Act 8:20  But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.
Acts 8:20 "...go to hell..."(GNT)

Rom 3:25  Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
Romans 3:25 In the past, God...overlooked men's sins...
but now in the present time he deals with men's sins

1Co 7:2  Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.
1 Corinthians 7:2 "...every man should have his own wife."(GNT)
(we are to allow people  to marry, but not everyone should be married 1 Cor 7:38, Mat 19:12).

1Co 11:4  Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.
1Co 11:5  But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.
1 Cor 11:4,5 adds "...in public worship..."(GNT)

Gal 5:20  Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Galatians 5:20 "...ambitious..."(GNT)

Gal 5:21  Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Gal 5:21 removes murders

Eph 5:26  That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
Ephesians 5:26 "...after making it clean by washing it in water,"(GNT)
Removes "by the word". This change makes it seem like you need water baptism to be saved instead of receiving faith to be saved by hearing God's word (Rom 10:17, Eph 2:8).

Php 3:5  Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;
Phili 3:5 "...a week old..."(GNT)
But i thought the law requires it done on the 8th day.

Col 2:8  Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
Colossions 2:8 "...ruling spirits of the universe..."(GNT)

Col 3:8  But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
Col 3:8 changes blasphemy to "...insults..."(GNT)

2Th 2:3  Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
2 Thes 2:3 "...Day will not come until the final rebellion takes place..."(GNT)
nope: Christ returns, 1000 yr reign, final rebellion.

1Ti 1:9  Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
1 Timothy 1:9 "...not religious or spiritual..."(GNT)
There are plenty of "religious / spiritual" people who are not godly such as Muslims, Hindu's, and Wiccans.

1Ti 5:12  Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith.
1 Tim 5:12 removes "...having damnation..."

1Ti 5:16  If any man or woman that believeth have widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be charged; that it may relieve them that are widows indeed.
1 Tim 5:16 removes man or and changed them to "...she..."(GNT)
Lets just put all the responsibility on the women shall we!

1Ti 5:17  Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.
1 Tim 5:17 honour changed to "pay"(GNT)
(y'know, for greedy pastors)

Heb 13:4  Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.
Heb 13:4 removes and the bed undefiled:

1Pe 5:2  Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
1 Pet 5:2 "...not for mere pay..."(GNT)
(Opposite meaning than KJV)

1Jn 4:19  We love him, because he first loved us.
1 John 4:19 "...We love because God first loved us..."(GNT)
removes him: see luke 6:32, Luk 11:13.

So according to the Good news bible we have Moses calling God cruel, ambition being considered a sin, women are the only ones charged with taking care of widows according to 1 Tim 5, and Peter telling someone to go to hell.
