Problems With The New American Standard Version

Which Verse is this Picture referring to?

For Today's post, I'm going to sharing 20+ verses from the NASB bible. As you can see from the copyright below, this translation has had many changes to it, but we are just going to be going over the 95 version. I hope you all enjoy this post. Let's begin.

"Scripture taken from the NEW AMERICAN STANDARD BIBLE(R), Copyright (C) 1960,1962,1963,1968,1971,1972,1973,1975,1977,1995 by The Lockman Foundation. Used by permission."

Gen 1:1  In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Genesis 1:1 "...the heavens..."  (NASB95)
A change from singular to plural.

Gen 6:4  There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
Gen 6:4 changes giants to "The Nephilim..."  (NASB95)
*** This Authors previous belief and reasoning***
"There is this thing called the Nephilim theory which says that the fallen angels bred with the ancient women that created devil/human hybrids. In my opinion this theory is untrue; instead I believe the fossil record which shows that there were giants in the earth in those days. There are a few reasons why I don't believe the Nephilim theory and here they are.

1. Why would a devil marry a human instead of just rape/sleep with them? 2. Lost men are known as children of the devil (Joh 8:44), wouldn't fallen angels fall into that category as well? 3. sons of God are a title for the saved/those led by the Spirit (Joh 1:12, Rom 8:14, Php 2:15, 1 Joh 3:1-2). 4 The devil Isn't referred to as a son of God (Job 1:6, Job 2:1), why would devils?"

"Authors Current Belief and Reasoning"
I am now quite certain The sons of God in Genesis 6 could very well be a heavenly host that became fallen when they went after human women. I will give 3 reasons why this could be the case...
1. The simple contrast of the verse sons of God vs daughters of Men( In Hebrew its adam which means mankind).
2. The books of Jude and 2 Peter 2 seem to Collaborate this interpretation.
3. 1st century Roman-Jewish Historian Josephus held this view, and you can also find this interpretation in the apocrypha, as well as in other sources.
See also The Unseen Realm by Micheal Heiser.

Gen 7:1  And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.
Gen 7:1 "...Enter the Ark..."  (NASB95)
Leviticus 11 changes many animals and leaves out (beetle, weasel, tortoise, swan)

2Sa 14:14  For we must needs die, and are as water spilt on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again; neither doth God respect any person: yet doth he devise means, that his banished be not expelled from him.
2 Samuel 14:14 "...Yet God does not take away life..." (NASB95)
This isn't true (Deut 32:39, 1 Sam 2:6, 2 Sam 6:7).

Ezr 8:5  Of the sons of Shechaniah; the son of Jahaziel, and with him three hundred males.
Ezra 8:5 adds "Zattu"  (NASB95)

Psa 8:5  For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
Psalm 8:5 "...little lower than God..."  (NASB95)
This is a big change in meaning.

Psa 12:6  The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
Psa 12:7  Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
Psa 12:6-7 "...You will preserve him..."  (NASB95)
This is changed as to attack the doctrine of the preservation of scripture.

Psa 78:36  Nevertheless they did flatter him with their mouth, and they lied unto him with their tongues.
78:36 changes flatter to "deceived"  (NASB95)
(We know God can't be deceived because he knows our thoughts).

Pro 21:16  The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.
Proverbs 21:16 changes remain to "rest"  (NASB95)

Ecc 12:13  Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
Ecclesiasties 12:13 "...this applies to every person."  (NASB95)

Son 1:4  Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee.
Song of Solomon 1:4 "...Rightly do they love you."  (NASB95)
If the song of Solomon is really / also about Christ relationship with the church then wouldn't you agree this is a significant change? It's not that we just should love Jesus but it's that those that are upright love him. It's what separates the righteous from the wicked.

Jer 8:8  How do ye say, We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us? Lo, certainly in vain made he it; the pen of the scribes is in vain.
Jer 8:8 "...lying pen of the scribes Has made it into a lie."  (NASB95)
Vain doesn't mean lie!

Hos 11:12  Ephraim compasseth me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit: but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints.
Hosea 11:12 "...Judah is also unruly against God,..."  (NASB95)
Another passage that has an opposite meaning.

Amo 4:4  Come to Bethel, and transgress; at Gilgal multiply transgression; and bring your sacrifices every morning, and your tithes after three years:
Amos 4:4 "...tithes every three days."  (NASB95)
This is incorrect! see Deut 14:28

Amo 8:7  The LORD hath sworn by the excellency of Jacob, Surely I will never forget any of their works.
Amos 8:7 "The LORD has sworn by the Pride of Jacob,..."  (NASB)

Mat 12:35  A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
Matthew 12:35 removes of the heart  (NASB)

Mark 9:29 removes and fasting
This makes it impossible to drive out a specific kind of devil.

Luk 2:22  And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord;
Luke 2:22 changes her to "...their..."  (NASB95)
Makes Jesus appear to be a sinner.

Luk 11:4  And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
Luk 11:4 removed "but deliver us from evil"

Joh 1:18  No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
Joh 1:18 Changes Son to "...God..."  (NASB95)
Christ Godhood wasn't begotten, he has always been God.

Joh 3:13  And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
John 3:13 omits "which is in heaven".
By doing this you can't use this verse to show Jesus is God because only God can be in two places at once.

Joh 7:8  Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast; for my time is not yet full come.
John 7:8 omits yet
(Makes Jesus a Liar)

Joh 14:14  If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
John 14:14 "If you ask Me anything in My name..."  (NASB95)

Act 14:15  And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:
Acts 14:15 "...a living God..."  (NASB95)
Most translations that I've seen has the living God.

Rom 11:6  And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
Romans 11:6 removes But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
1 Cor 7:5 omits fasting

1Co 8:4  As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.
1 Cor 8:4 "...we know that there is no such thing as an idol in the world,..."  (NASB95)
(Really! There are lots of idols on the earth).

2Co 4:14  Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.
2 Cor 4:14 changed by Jesus to "with Jesus" (NASB95)
(Subtly denies that Jesus has been raised from the dead).
Ephesians 3:9 missing "by Jesus Christ":

Php 1:26  That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again.
Philippians 1:26 proud confidence in me may abound  (NASB)

Php 2:6  Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
Php 2:6 who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped,  (NASB)
(An attack on Christ's Deity).

1Ti 1:4  Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.
1 Timothy 1:4 "...furthering the administration..."   (NASB95)
This makes the church seem like a business model, and in many cases that's what today's church's are.

1 Tim 5:14 changes women to "widows(see vs. 11-13)   (NASB95)

1Ti 6:6  But godliness with contentment is great gain.
1Tim 6:6 "...godliness actually is a means of great gain..."  (NASB95)
(Won't the prosperity preachers be glad to hear that)

Rev 11:17  Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.
Revelation 11:17 removes and art to come

Rev 16:5  And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and wast, and shalt be, because thou hast judged thus.
Rev 16:5 removes and shalt be (see Rev 1:4)
