The word on the street Review

For today's article I'd thought that I would share about 16 passages from the word on the street paraphrase by rob lacy. These verses will demonstrate that this "bible" is not of God and should not be read.

As you can see I have to be very careful how I handle this one because the material has some pretty strict copyright rules. So I'm going to keep this short. Like usual KJV is Blue and New Version is Red, My comments Black.

Gen 19:1  And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;

Genesis "...three angels give lot, his wife and his two daughters their marching orders..."

The text says it was two angels that entered Sodom, so factual error #1.

Gen 21:6  And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me.

Gen 21:7  And she said, Who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should have given children suck? for I have born him a son in his old age.

Genesis 21:1-7 "...Who'd have thought, breastfeeding in my eighties!..."

Sarah was Ninety when she bare Isaac (Gen 17:17 ), factual error #2.

1Ch 21:1  And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel.

1Ch 21:2  And David said to Joab and to the rulers of the people, Go, number Israel from Beersheba even to Dan; and bring the number of them to me, that I may know it.

1Ch 21:3  And Joab answered, The LORD make his people an hundred times so many more as they be: but, my lord the king, are they not all my lord's servants? why then doth my lord require this thing? why will he be a cause of trespass to Israel?

1Ch 21:4  Nevertheless the king's word prevailed against Joab. Wherefore Joab departed, and went throughout all Israel, and came to Jerusalem.

1 Chronicles 10:1-22:16 "...It goes to his head: he thinks it's his numbers, his muscle, his strategy, his equipment  that pulling it all off..."

Nowhere in the passage does it insinuate that David was trusting in Carnal things like numbers or equipment! David had a perfect heart with the Lord 1King 15:3.

Neh 2:17  Then said I unto them, Ye see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lieth waste, and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a reproach.

Neh 2:18  Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me; as also the king's words that he had spoken unto me. And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for this good work.

Nehemiah 2:1-20 "...Lets get some pride back!..."

Pride is Bad.

Pro 15:16  Better is little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble therewith.

Proverbs 15:16 "It's better to have debts outstanding and respect for God..."

It's my personal conviction that debts are sin. The bible says to owe no man anything in Romans 13:8, plus in the Lord's prayer Mat 6:8 why must we ask the Father to forgive us our debts if it isn't sin?

Job 10:8  Thine hands have made me and fashioned me together round about; yet thou dost destroy me.

Job 10:1-3 "...How come you shape me, then rape me?..."

I don't think the perfect man Job would accuse his maker of Rape.

Mat 5:7  Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

Matthew 5:1-17 "...forgive and forget..."

The bible says we have to forgive, this bible was obviously written by a man. Women can't forget, their brain isn't wired to forget. The real bible tells us to mark and avoid specific people (Rom 16), and keep not company with certain unruly believers (1 Cor 5), you won't keep those commands if your forgetful.

Mar 1:16  Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.

Mar 1:17  And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.

Mar 1:18  And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him.

Mark 1:9-11 "John's groupies drew and pete sign off from the baptizer, and Jesus takes them on."

What's a groupie? According to https://www.yourdictionary.com/groupie

"A young female fan of rock groups or other popular personalities, who follows them about, often in the hope of achieving sexual intimacy."

Also verses are off.

1Co 5:11  But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

1 Corinthians 5:11-13 "Don't get matey with JLM members whose lives don't match up: who can't control....their stomaches...their finances..."

Not the same kinds of things listed huh?

2Co 11:25  Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep;

2 Corinthians 11:21-12:10"...almost stoned to death...forty-eight hours in the open sea..."

So I looks like the KJV has Paul in the sea for about 24 hrs while the street translation has twice as long, interesting.

Eph 4:6  One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

Ephesians 4:1-7 "...he's above, below, beside, alongside, inside everything..."

The word on the street flatly contradicts Romans 8:9

Eph 5:18  And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

Ephesians 5:1-14  "...Don't get drunk on alcohol-get drunk on God"

Again, the irreverence is astounding! We have not the spirit of fear but of love, power, and say it with me a sound mind (2 Tim 1:7).

Heb 11:1  Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Hebrews 10:37-11:4"...It's being sold on something we've no evidence for, convinced when there's no proof..."

Faith is the evidence, plus if you want more evidence for Christianity check out my 90 evidences page at the top of the screen.

1Pe 1:25  But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

1 Peter 1:3-25 "...Boss's message stands strong and long..."

An Attack on the preservation of scripture.

1Jn 5:21  Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

1 John 5:21 "...don't get high on anything but God."

I do think that type of language is a little irreverent. What's your opinion? Leave a comment down below.

Rev 12:16  And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.

Revelation 11:17-18 "...Mother Earth..."

So why would a pagan goddess help the adversary of Satan? Also I don't like how he doesn't have the all chapters. As you can see the earth helping the woman in the Kjv is in chapter 12.

In Conclusion we can see that the street bible is far from a perfect work, even for a paraphase it has quite a few serious errors in it. I dare say it is one of the worst translations that I've come across. Of course one of the reasons is because I prefer the formal equivalence type bible and this seems to be one of the farthest things from it. I hope you all have enjoyed this short little post.
